This was one of the first pieces I wrote after starting on the opinions staff at The Red and Black. The subject is still one I feel strongly about – it’s part of the reason I got into food writing in the first place.
If you believe the UGA Food Services posters, anyone foolhardy enough to cook for themselves is wasting half their life and most of their money slaving in the kitchen. The sad part is that if you asked most college students, they would agree.
Perhaps I’m biased, but in my experience that’s just not true.
