About Me

I have always loved to cook. From helping Mom roll dough on my high-chair tray, to tasting alum (a mistake I won’t repeat), to turning dinner into a chance to experiment, I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t in the kitchen. I can’t say, however, that I always wanted to be a cook.

I started my career at the University of Georgia intent on becoming a science writer, declaring majors in magazine journalism and chemistry and burying myself in WIRED blogs whenever I wasn’t in the lab or at mock trial practice. Three years later, sitting at a wooden table and eating my way through a review of Seabear Oyster Bar for my critical writing class, I realized that I loved science – but food was my passion.

So I changed my plan, dropped the chemistry major to a minor, and picked up a another minor in horticulture and a new media certificate. And when I graduated, I packed my bags, moved home, and started my official culinary education at Gwinnett Tech.

I haven’t looked back since. Now, whenever I’m not studying for class, you can find me designing and testing out new recipes, working on cakes for clients, or hanging out with my chickens.

Sound good? Awesome. I’d love to hear from you – my email is in the top bar, or you can get in touch through the contact form on the front page.
